Pre Elementary Ed
My group discussed many different ways in which technology was used to help us learn. One way in particular was in my 7th grade spanish class. Whenever we had new vocabulary we would go to the computer lab and play a game. The game would show a cartoon setting (a supermarket, living room, school, etc.) and the vocab words would drop from the top of the screen. We had to use the arrows to place to word on to the correct item. This game was a fun way to make sure we were all studying and working on our vocab. Because the game was fun it made learning much easier.

I think that interactive games are great way to engage and review material. For students they think they are playing the game and do not always realize that they are learning or using their knowledge. There are many educational games out on the internet that can be very benefical to various types of learners.
ReplyDeleteI agree that interactive games, especially in areas such as in language classes, are very useful. The really promote learning in a way that allows students to retain learning no matter what type of learner they are.
ReplyDeleteWe used a similar prgram in my spanish class too. I think making the connection between the vocab word, and a setting where you would use it was very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI too remember using a program similar to this when I was in elementary and even middle school. The computer programs appeal to kids as a fun game yet at the same time they can do a very good job of helping the students learn. Perhaps even better than a teacher just repeating words over and over again.
